The INTER AQUA Advance Group has developed the ultimate solution for large-scale bio-reactors in the patented internal cleaning system of the CLEARWATER Bio-reactor technology. Given the inherent limitations for proper hydraulic profiles in the traditional moving bed bio-reactors, INTER AQUA Advance has developed and patented an internal airlift-driven cleaning system to provide a powerful mixing and cleaning function. Strategic placement of airlifts within the bio-reactor along with a periphal aeration pipe provides vertical circulatory patterns where the bio-element are continuously pulled all the way to the bottom of the reactor and up into the airlifts. As the bio-elements are sucked into the airlift inlet by the curculating currents, the shear forces exerted by the sudden change of direction and the highly turbulent conditions within the airlifts serve to constantly exfoliate old and inactive bio-film layers from the bio-element surfaces.
